Activating a POSB or DBS bank account for your foreign domestic helper in Singapore doesn’t have to be a time-consuming task. Many employers face long queues at the bank. With this easy guide, you can activate the foreign domestic helper POSB or DBS bank account without any hassle.

Step 1: Receive Necessary Mailers
Before beginning the activation process, ensure you’ve received two essential mailers from the bank: 

1. the DBS Debit and ATM card, and

2. the pin mailer with the ATM PIN number.

Step 2: ATM Activation Process
Activating the bank account can be done at the nearest POSB or DBS ATM. FYI, POSB and DBS are the same. 

Insert the ATM card and, when prompted, enter the helper’s passport number as the ID number. 

Steps for account/card activation:

  1. Insert your New ATM/Debit Card into the ATM.
  2. Enter your Card PIN*.
  3. Select More Services.
  4. Select Cards/PIN/iBanking/Phonebanking.
  5. Select Activate Card.
  6. Follow instructions on the ATM screen to complete activation.

This step will activate both the account and the ATM card. 

Important reminder: Activate the ATM card within 30 days. This will keep the maid bank account active. 

Step 3: Set Up the digibank App
After the bank account is activated, you need to set up digital banking for your helper.

  • Download the App: Go to the App Store, Google Play, or AppGallery and download the DBS digibank Mobile app.
  • Sign Up: Launch the app and tap on “Sign up for digibank.”
  • Access Setup: Tap “I need digibank access” and select “Debit/ATM Card.” Set up the access using Passport as the ID verification. 
  • Enter Details: Input the Debit/ATM Card Number, the 6-digit Card PIN, and tap “Next.”
  • Credential Completion: Fill in the preferred User ID & PIN, and verify the mobile number, email address, and mailing address. Tap “Next.”
  • Confirmation: Review the details and tap “Confirm.”
  • Final Setup: Upon completing the set-up, tap “Proceed to digibank” to set up the Digital Token.
